Fracking Petition Needs 100,000 Signatures(January 06, 2016)
Local councillor Paul Macdonald is urging residents to sign a national on-line petition that not only calls on the government to stop the use of hydraulic fracturing but invest in renewables instead.
"l happily signed this petition after it was brought to my attention by a local resident today," said Paul.
"It represents my sentiments on this issue exactly."
The petition, entitled 'Scrap Fracking UK Wide and Invest in Green energy', has been submitted through the houses of parliament system.
'We should be a country leading the way in renewable energy,' it says. 'Why would the government invest time & money into an energy alternative that can cause so much damage?'
'Scrap it all together and focus on making the UK 100% energy sustainable.'
