Gasification Rallying Call Answer Tonight

(August 10, 2020)

A rallying call that had been made by the local Conservative MP, Dr Andrew Murrison, after being 'fed a load of old nonsense’ by the owners of a controversial gasification plant just five miles from Warminster will be discussed by its town council tonight.

Local councillors have been asked to look at an internet link to a virtual consultation by Northacre Renewable Energy who have a major Westbury planning application.

‘Following this event and the publishing of the town councils meeting there were numerous comments and objections to the proposals,’ states the Planning Committee agenda for tonight (Monday 10th August).

‘After the meeting Westbury Town Council also received feed back from some neighbouring parish councils who expressed an interest in working with Town Council.’

The aim is build a widespread effort across the whole area of this part of the county, which has also been objected to by Mendip District Council, as Wiltshire Council were expecting to receive the planning application at the end of July.

The campaign by environmental groups that is being supported by their local elected representatives sprung up when that Bio Energy and Infrastructure Group, co-owner of the Westbury gasification plant with Wiltshire based Hills Waste went public on their new plans.

They want to renege on permissions for the plant to now increase capacity and use widely environmentally discredited methods with lower emission standards claim environmentalists support by the MP.
