Poundland Days Are Not Numbered

(August 14, 2020)

A popular Warminster store doomed to closure by the economic effects of the Covid pandemic just a couple of weeks ago will now stay open.

“Poundland is delighted to announce it is keeping the store in Warminster open,”  said a Poundland spokesperson yesterday just days before the doors of the store were due to be closed for good on Sunday..

“It means the store at Three Horseshoes Walk shopping centre will continue to play a key role in serving the community and help the town centre rebuild after Covid-19.

“We never want to close any store and leave our customers disappointed.

"We are pleased that we have been able to agree new realistic rental terms so that we can keep our doors open in Warminster.

"It's also great news for our colleagues.

"As a growing retailer, we want to work closely with landlords and play our part in getting the nation’s high streets back on their feet.”

Just eight days ago visionforwarminster.co.uk revealed that the Three Horsehoes Walk retailer, which had been a favourite with a lot of shoppers for many years, and shared with Pep & Co, had been forced into the closure decision.

The company had been successful in other towns with other landlords in getting help with dealing with difficult trading conditions and their Trowbridge store was staying open.

"We're as disappointed as our colleagues and customers to be closing our Warminster store on 15 August. It's a great place and we'd love to return,” said a Poundland spokesperson on August 6th.

“We’ve been unable to reach a rental agreement on the renewal of the lease on the store at Three Horseshoes Walk.

“This means the numbers simply don’t stack up even for a growing retailer like us.”

The numbers now stack up again and the shop will now join so many other good news stories as Warminster emerges from the pandemic.
