Nailbiting Times For Local Election Candidates
(May 07, 2021)Residents in Warminster, including some passionate voters who came forward to help the Independent candidates, will have a lot of nailbiting hours waiting to hear how successful their campaigns have been to break down the Tory stronghold on council seats.
"Whatever the outcome of the counting of the votes tomorrow and on Sunday I am happy that we, the Independents, have given a vibrant and very individual choice to vote for to Warminster residents," said Paul Macdonald when asked by local people today.
"Political parties put forward candidates for the county council and have let you badly down by not matching us in effort with all their vast resources so it was just a game to them.
"None of those parties put up candidates for the town council showing how much they care about us. The Tories had their campaign run by someone in Salisbury.
'My fingers are crossed that party politics did not have a say yesterday!'

The local elections this year have been complicated once again. Three different elections on the same day mean that the ballot boxes are full of those different ballot papers.
"I have enjoyed putting my name forward again to look after the interests of us ordinary resident for the local council elections but why does it have to be confused with another political election?" said John Syme.
"I am now talking to the others about how we take forward the positive response that I have received after Stacie, Paul, Malcolm and I put our names forward.

"Win or lose I promise this wil not end here!" added John.
Today the votes cast for Warminster are being put into three different piles and the counting staff are ensuring that all the papers stacked up match the number given out at polling stations.
Saturday will see the votes then counted into piles for John Syme, Paul Macdonald and Stacie Allensby for the county council elections in Warminster.
"I stood as an angry resident wanting to give the town council a big kick up the backside," explained Stacie Allensby.

"How many times have I read on 'spotted in warminster town' complaints about the town and county councillors not doing anything?
"I am so pleased that after hesitation I have the audacity to say enough is enough and take be outspoken for the town."
Sunday will not be a day of rest as attention is once again turned to the turnout of voters for those who stood for the town council including Independent Mal Mellersh.
"What the town council needs is bottom up democracy," said Malcolm at a meeting this morning outside the double decker cafe at Botany Farm along Bradley Road.
"Local people having real knowledge of what is going on and having a say."
