Let's Raise A Stinkl

(February 07, 2024)

A report that has the word 'OBJECT' in rarely seen capital letters in a government agency report has been highlighted in the Warminster Journal

"I felt it was vital that Warminster town and county councillors that failed to recognise the importance of this do so now.".explained former councillor Paul Macdonald.

paul 001a"The residents of the Broadway ward have endured long enough and should be listened to.. Why put up more homes on one remaining green and environment friendly space so close to the biodigester?"

"Hopefully the new councilor will be as attentive once the vacancy is filled following the passing of John Syme."

'Dear Sir

Your front page report of a development application 'causing a stink' at a town council meeting about Bore Hill Farm I waited for the most important argument against any development 'anywhere near housing.'

After 40 years of taking an interest in planning I have never seen a more damning consultation report from the Environment Agency.

'We OBJECT to the principle of the proposed development' was the response with the Capitals in response from the EA who are on the list of consultees by Wiltshire Council.

'Odour' was the very next word.

'We have very serious concerns about the adverse odour and amenity impacts on new residential development in such close proximity to the Anaerobic Digestion {AD} plant known as Malaby Biogas'.

The EA response then is even more revealing. It has another report about 'Odour Complaints'.

Sixty seven reports in 2023. They responded 69 times. They noted an increase in odour duration and frequency in certain conditions.

Topography, the layout of the land, amongst other concerns

Wiltshire Council have been warned if they 'are minded to approve' this decision the relevant Secretary of State and various other government agencies will have their say.

Yours faithfully

Paul Macdonald
