On the trail of art through Wiltshire

(March 26, 2009)
THE term 'art noueau' could take on a whole new meaning as plans to run the fifth Wylye Valley Art Trail can now be previewed on the Internet, writes Paul MacDonald.

Using the modern technology that Rembrandt may have marvelled at the website www.wvat.co.uk reveals so much that is going on offer with artists in Warminster complementing their counterparts for miles around.

The week kicks off on the 30th May and the website which is sponsored by the district council and a local radio station is a fascinating visit in its own right.

From West Ashton near Trowbridge to Semley to the south, from Zeals to Great Wishford in the east there will be plenty to enjoy.

Warminster offers its fair share of options with a random look revealing that the Organ Inn will be a gallery for the work of photographer Paul de Villeneuve and painter Zoe Spittal.

In nearby villages the very lifelike animal sculptures of Georgie Welch at Sutton Veny is complemented by six ‘Quintessentially English” artists on show at the Angel at Upton Scudamore.

The week could provide a full seven days to appreciate the work of artists and the craft of those located in 35 villages in west and south Wiltshire with many providing refreshments.
