Two staff punched in face at Morrisons

(October 22, 2009)
TWO members of staff were attacked at Morrisons this evening (Thursday) and police were called to the store at around 7.30pm.
The staff, one young male and a female security officer, are understood to have been punched in the face during the incident.
Police were seen questioning a number of juveniles in the area shortly after the attack.
Staff at the store said they believed those responsible were both aged 14.
''Yet another piece of lawlessness that would have gone unnoticed had I not been in the area at the time," said Steve Dancey.
"Those under the age of 18 have been given the cloak of anonymity since the Children and Young Persons Act was passed in 1933.
"It is high time this piece of legislation was revised so that only those aged 15 and under are given this protection.
"Children behave in a far more aggressive and unruly way than in previous generations and they are more confident and aware of thir rights.
"I've heard police officers bang on about the teddy boys in the late 50s but they were light years away in numbers and ferocity from what we are having to endure today.
"On my way to the shop I cycled through a group of swearing disaffected youths who would have proved intimidating to many people.
"I know police say they can't get out of their cars but we need them back on the streets - and whatever happened to our PCSOs as I have hardly seen one for the past 18 months.
"I suppose we should be thankful that we don't live in other parts of the country where law and order seems to have broken down completely in the past 15 years."
