Carnival fun day in the park 13 June
(June 14, 2010)IT was fun day Sunday at the Lake Pleasure Grounds as it became a 'theme park' complete with fun fair, a touch of 'its a knockout', a live music concert, and a royal coronation all rolled into one.
The annual event organised by the carnival committee made it third
time lucky for the winner of the carnival princess competition.
"I've enttered it for the last two years and thought I would give
it one more go," said ten-year-old Sasha Ovens pictured with Wessex
Queen of Queens Rebecca Milner, Prince Jake Heath (6) and attendants

"So as you say it is definitely third time lucky!"
The scarecrow trail was full of disney characters scattered along the paths and amongst the dozen stalls and the fun fair.
"I like this one," said six-year-old Makenzie Leckie (pictured).
"My favourite is Jack Sparrow. I like him because he is a pirate."
Two other youngsters, four-year-old Sam Chant and five-year-old
Angus Boyd pictured, found a mermaid sun-bathing on a park bench by the
lake.
Warminster Community Radio working from the bandstand supported
the live entertainment that included local entertainers the Stich Blues
Brothers.
Country and western singer Vanessa had a youthful admirer but all
was revealed when the boy in the cowboy hat turned out to be her
grandson.
The amazing voice of a young sixteen-year-old girl was revealed as
Laura Hocking who has recorded her first demo CD at the WCR studios.
"I have just a music, drama and art student and won Frome's Got Talent 2010," explained the budding diva.
After the crowd had listened to the dulcet tones of the singers it was back to the Lakeside centre for the baby competition.
"And the runner-up is.....George Cooper-Collyer," said the announcer. "And the winner is .....Lacey Hawkins."
A raft race added to the fun and for footie fans Highbury FC had provided the chance to practice penalties.
"It was a really good event that had something for everyone as the
sight of a great-grandfather with his family enjoying their time
clearly showed," said Paul Macdonald.
"I even bought a copy of the demo CD after hearing the performance of Laura. Just a fiver. Bargain!"
