Town Hall is open to the public for first time in many years
(September 07, 2010)WARMINSTER Town Hall is open for public viewing as part of the coming heritage weekend.
It can be entered without appointment on Friday and Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm.
Warminster Environment Team Services (WETS) have been involved in clearing away several years of decay from inside the building to enable the opening to take place in safety.
Items taken away have included dead rats and pigeons while masses of droppings have also been dealt with by the volunteers.
Inside the building is in better order than many people think and those who visit this grand structure for the first time will be swept away by its potential.
George Jolley and Chris March will join members of the Civic Trust as guides around the building on Friday and will be joined bt Steve Dancey from VFW on Saturday afternoon.
''It really is a criminal waste that our town hall has not been brought into use for so many years as it has so much potential,'' said Steve.
''In these difficult times the restoration of this building to its past glory will give the whole town a lift.''
