Don't forget to write
(December 18, 2010)WARMINSTER'S megaloan being negotiated by the town council could face much greater government scrutiny if the Department for Communities and Local Government knows there is considerable opposition to the Assembly Rooms plans.
Visionforwarminster understands that the town council, in its application for the grant, hasn't even mentioned that there was a parish poll on this matter at which 92 per cent of the population objected - of course they mentioned their own twisted and one-sided 'consultation' exercise.
So it is very important that people tell central government what they think of the plan.
We now urge as many people as possible to write to the DCLG as well as the Public Works Loan Board to try to stop this farce being foisted on us by a couple of influential councillors and officials.
''The parish poll was completely honest and open to all and its question wasn't leading in any shape or form,'' said Steve Dancey who first called for the poll.
''It gave a clear answer and the council should listen to the public - especially as it is getting an additional two years in office without an election as a result of local government reorganisation.''
