Conservative candidate spills the beans on her party's strong arm tactics in her leaflet
(November 20, 2011)CONSERVATIVE candidate Kate Fryer has spilled the beans in her election leaflet about what goes on in the local Conservative Party behind the scenes.
In among the motherhood and apple pie desires that we would all support there's a telling few words.
'Do not think Kate is going to be pushed around by older, more experienced councillors' it says - the clear inference is this is what is going on.
''It doesn't say whether the older more experienced councillors are from the town council or the county council but seeing as the Conservatives are in charge of both it looks as if they employ strong-arm tactics with their elected members,'' said former county councillor Steve Dancey.
''The importance of the political group has increased markedly since the 1980s when I was elected and it leads to poorer decision making and arrogance on the part of the leaders.
''Her words are particularly telling as her father is a town councillor and one of the three who, to his credit, didn't support the ridiculous waste of money on the Assembly Rooms.
''But she is standing on the Conservative ticket and they are the people who brought in punitive parking charges and widened the town centre pavement - removing on-street parking.''
Such actions have been hugely damaging to Warminster and have not helped Wiltshire's finances either.
