Celebrity Kevin McCloud and Channel Four - Warminster Docu?

(January 15, 2014)

UNPOPULAR activities of councillors in the market town of Warminster now have TV celebrity and Channel Four' Kevin McCloud to thank for catcalls and booing at their latest meeting.

"I did not know who Kevin McCloud was when his name was said as a major reason to build on our water meadow," explains Cllr. Paul Macdonald. " I suppose soon a TV channel will introduce 'celebrity planning decisions'.

On Monday night members of Warminster Town Council were asked to look again at a planning application that had been turned down in its various guises sveral times before.

There is land all around the town has been safeguarded from development but a gap between planning strategies old and new has seen a large number of speculative proposals arrive from developers interested in the 'fast buck' (see previous hot topics and comment).

"I stand firm about what was described to me today as 'sacrosanct' alongside the land behind the Minster Church," said Cllr. Paul Macdonald.

"I have no celebrity status but if Kevin McCloud would like to bring Channel Four or any other TV to Warminster then I will stand up to him with the support of uor community about this 'Happiness' proposal from his HAB company!

"Having received a MBE from the Queen this year I will also present him with a Warminster MBE from our community,"  added Cllr. Macdonald. "The most 'Misplaced Built Environment' award!"
