Foodbank First For Councillor

The Mayor of a market town in Wiltshire has the Warminster Food Bank which supports the increasing numbers of needy from a council owned building as one of his charities of the year.
Cllr. Paul Batchelor made the announcement at his inauguration to the civic role which was quietly received at the time.
"I now understand why he did it as a new member of the town council," said Cllr. Paul Macdonald.
"In the past few months I have been asked by local families for help with a wide variety of issues.
"In several cases they have said they cannot afford to feed themselves and their children trying to cope with other costs like staying warm. This is a first for me.
"I have told them about the food bank and who could help nominate them for a voucher. I have looked into this and it is a real indictment of a future for Warminster"
The government in national newspaper coverage this week has suppressed a report about the scale of the demand for this charitable service and now is under pressure after a survey revealed that one in six GPs have referred their patients to a food bank.
"The Warminster food bank is in Dewey House." adds Paul.
"Dewey House was given to the town council by Harold Dewey along with a charitable trust for the well-being of local people,"
