Humans may be helping the pigeons

(October 09, 2014)

MONDAY evening saw the issue of Warminster's pesky pigeons aired once again at the town council.

Councillor Paul Batchelor said that the number of pigeons has doubled in recent years - most likely because they are being fed by members of the town's human population.

Townsfolk are being encouraged to stop the feeding in a bid to control numbers. There were suggestions (from Cllr Davis) that the council should take action against a mystery feeder by the use of an ASBO if the behaviour continued.

Recent rains seem to have helped the problem as the worst build up of pigeon poo, outside Costa in the Market Place, seems to have been washed away in the recent heavy showers.
