Xmas lights secured for three years - but volunteers still needed
(June 09, 2015)Town council press release....
At the Town Council’s Finance and Assets Committee meeting on Monday 8 June, Councillors discussed the tenders that had been submitted for the erection and removal of the Christmas Lights display for the next three years, following the disbanding of the Christmas Lights Committee who had undertaken this work on a voluntary basis over the past years.
Although there were differences of opinion over which company should undertake the service, members were unanimous in agreeing that the town must have Christmas Lights and a local firm was chosen.
“We must once again thank the Christmas Lights Committee for the fantastic work they have done for the town over the past years” said Councillor Jolley. Volunteers have come forward but more are still needed to assist with the Christmas Lights switch-on which will take place on 28 November and to help with the sale and installation of the Christmas trees for businesses if this tradition is to keep going. Anyone interested in helping should contact the Town Council on 01985 214847 or by email at [email protected].
