THE 'VISION'

II Was Just An Idea

(July 06, 2024)

This idea was at one time described, criticised, and then vilified as a 'vanity website' as well as at the same time another one on the new and increasingly popular internet published by another indepedent minded resident that also gained attention.

paul 001a"It was a chance and brief meeting between Steve and myself busily hurrying along the Market Place tthat saw us moaning about what was going on in Warminster," says Paul Macdonald.

Steve was a new sight at the county hall council chamber sitting there not wearing a blue rosette. Paul had been a town and district councillor those nearly thirty years ago doing the same thing.

The reecords will show that Steve used his years at county hall well as a community politician which saw traffic calming at Kingdown School as just one of his achievements.

Paul as a district councillor banged a drum over and over again in Trowbridge about Warminster having the highest unemployment rate in the county. The Crusader Park idea was going nowhere. Today it is a succes.

"I said at the time ours was a 'cinderella town' which hit a nerve at those who so-called represented us in the council offices in Trowbridge.."

"We agreed to put our minds together and for six months in 2008 this was our vision for Warminster back then." explains Paul..

"It will take time to read it but I think some people who studied it back then used our ideas and implementef them and helped our town and villages."

A new chance exists for newer residents and generations to do this again.

"The challenge is there for others, probably much younger people, to come up with fresh ideas that might just breathe some new life into this rapidly ossifying community" says Steve, now an old age pensioner.
